ALLOW ME TO REINTRODUCE MYSELF MY NAME IS CHRISSY

Jay-Z

A wonderful thing happens when God allows your Passion to become your Career and Purpose! Welcome to Thestudio1216.com, I am the owner, Chrissy Woods. I am a Licensed Cosmetologist, Pro Makeup Artist and Registered Nurse(with a Master’s degree), (long story how all of this happened). As interesting and odd as this may sound, it was my destiny to do all three. Let me explain.

After about 10 years of Nursing, I knew I was starting to suffer from burnout. I prayed and asked God to please show me another way. I was great with Nursing, however, I always desired more. I knew I had to have a talent, I just didn’t know what it was. My prayers were always for God to reveal my talent to me.  Not long after realizing, Nursing was becoming my least favorite things to do, God led me the Art of Makeup. Once I would get in the mirror and play in makeup, the time would  slip away from me and I was at peace. It was a great outlet for me. After much encouragement from my husband, I decided to Freelance and take clients. This worked out much better than I thought. I began getting booked for weddings, events, and even photoshoots. It was at this point I realized, God was answering my prayers. I then decided to turn this into my second career and head to Cosmetology school to get licensed.

Once entering school, I realized, not only did I love makeup, but I also LOVED the Art of Hair! How crazy is that? I breezed through Cosmetology school with the use of my previous Nursing knowledge, it was easy for me to understand, the skin, the body, and Healthy Hair.  I thought all of my problems had been solved once I graduated and received my Cosmetologist license…..boy was I wrong.

There I was, Registered Nurse of almost 12 years, Licensed Cosmetologist and at this point, Pro Makeup Artist.  IT WAS TOO MUCH! I wasn’t happy unless I was at the salon or providing Makeup for someone. I still worked Full time as the Director of Nursing for a Home Care Agency Monday – Friday. I would leave work, take clients at 5:30 then, head home to spend what was left of my time with my family. This was not good. My family suffered because all I did was WORK! I often prayed and asked God to show me a way out. I knew I couldn’t quit my Nursing position, because I needed the salary, but God told me to leave. I was so scared and skeptical, but against my better judgement….I STAYED! I thought I had made the right decision to stay, especially when I received a promotion and a Salary increase. Little did I know, that was extremely short lived. 2 weeks after receiving a promotion and raise I was TERMINATED! You read that right….TERMINATED…CANNED….PINK SLIP…OUT THE DOOR! I never saw it coming.

Can you guess what date that was? You guessed it, DECEMBER 16, 2016. That date I will never forget.

I always find beauty in things that are odd and imperfect- they are much more interesting.

LOVE WHAT YOU DO. DO WHAT YOU LOVE

After 2 weeks of sulking and feeling like a failure for being terminated from my salaried position, I got off my butt and got my act together. I knew I needed a plan. Nursing was burning me out. The thought of another Nursing job gave me anxiety that was out of this world.  During those 2 weeks, I realized, God was telling me all along to go ahead and leave that full time job, but I let fear get in the way, and I ended up losing. From that day on, I vowed to always listen to God and do what he says. His way is not just the right way, but THE ONLY WAY.

As you have probably guessed, the name The Studio 1216 was birthed from the day I was terminated. I had not realized it then, but it was definitely the day my life changed forever. I received much more than I lost that day. I received peace, happiness, time with my family,  and most of all, I learned to trust God.

There you have it, my story, in a nutshell! I am now dedicated to helping women feel good about themselves on the inside and out. Hair and Makeup are the vessels that I am allotted the opportunity to do so. As I approach my 1 year anniversary, I felt it was only appropriate to launch a new website and an overall new BRAND! So again, welcome to The Studio 1216. I love what I do and I’m constantly researching, studying and improving my craft. I would love the opportunity to have you sit in my chair and experience my gift.
