It’s 2018 yall!!!!! Happy New Year!! We are so super blessed to see the year 2018. As I sit here and reflect on how many people did not make it to this year, I get overwhelmed. God still has us here for a reason!
NEW YEAR….NEW ME….NAH…… NEW YEAR……SAME ME
If you are on any form of social media, I know you have seen the whole “In 2018 I’m going to….” Or “A list of who I’m cutting off in 2018….” or the most common one, “In 2018 It’s going to be a New Me….” statuses that are being posted. If you really sit back and think, why would a New Year, bring on a New YOU? God created you to be exactly who you are. There may have been some choices that you have made down the line that may have taken away from who you were called to be, but at the end of the day, CHRISSY IS THE SAME OLE CHRISSY. Instead of changing who you are, I have a few tips to encourage you in this upcoming year.
The word intentional tells us things are done on purpose. Be intentional about every choice you make. Ask yourself, is this what God wants for me? Is this in line with the overall goals for myself, my family or my business? Will this decision only benefit me or will others also benefit? Will this decision positively effect my life? Being intentional allows you to see things more clearly. It gives you a time out and a chance to prepare, plan and produce. Sometimes we go throughout life living on “spur of the moments.” There is a time and a place for this type of living, but in 2018 we have to know the right time to be intentional and when we can be spontaneous.
How many times has God given you an idea and you didn’t act on it? Then later down the line, you notice someone else with a similar idea who is flourishing? How did you feel when you saw it? Go back to that moment in time. Did it motivate you to never sleep on God’s word again? Or are you paralyzed by fear? In 2018, I want to encourage you to BE COURAGEOUS. There are so many times we miss out on our blessings due to fear. The bible tells us:
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
GOD HAS OUR BACK! We have to learn to lean on him and trust him. I encourage you to pray and ask God what is it that he wants you to do in 2018. LISTEN to what he has to say, then BE COURAGEOUS and DO IT!
Social Media is one of the best and worst things that could have happened to our culture. It is great for purposes such as marketing and branding for your business, keeping in touch with family and friends, and even to cheer us up at times of sadness. However, Social Media has also corrupted the minds of many of our youth and millennials. Instead of being originals, many of them are choosing to be a cookie cutter version of someone else. My preacher said in yesterday’s service, there is a difference between DUPLICATION AND REVELATION. Someone can look at you like your style, your work and even try to become you. They can duplicate you, your style and even try to be you…..but they will always BE BEHIND! There is one thing that they are lacking…..and that’s revelation. GOD didn’t give them the same vision that he gave you. I said all of that to say this, it’s ok to be inspired by someone or something, but always be YOU. I can save you a lot of heartache and time and just tell you, the DUPLICATES NEVER WORK. They are always the KNOCK OFF version. The original is so much better and worth so much more. Just like a purse or a pair of shoes, EVERYONE CAN SPOT A FAKE. In 2018 find out who you are and BE YOU.
What are some of your goals in 2018. Write them below and let’s hold each other accountable for reaching higher heights.
