Working as a Makeup Artist, people truly believe I wear a completely, made up beat face on a daily basis. Nothing can be more farther from the truth. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love wearing makeup, but let’s be honest, I don’t always have time to sit to my vanity and apply a full face of makeup. It is my theory that I should be able attract clients off of my appearance alone. How do I do this you might ask? Sometimes my first client is at 6am?! How can I accomplish this task of looking polished with only a few moments to spare in the mornings? Let’s dive into my makeup bag and I can show you exactly what I use to create a flawless face.
What’s in my makeup bag?
The answer is shocking! I don’t carry many things in my makeup bag but I still can create a very polished look with just a few products.
The Base/Foundation is the Key
Foundation: I always carry some sort of foundation in my bag. Foundation evens out your skin tone and creates an airbrushed appearance. My most recent foundation of choice has been Fenty Beauty. I’m in shade 410. Fenty keeps me matte all day and provides the airbrushed, natural look that I love.
Brows: No matter what I do to the rest of my face, my brows HAVE to be in place. Without my brows, I absolutely feel NAKED. I have 2 favorite brow pencils that I use, the first one is by NYX Cosmetics in the shade Chocolate and the 2nd one is from Self Love Cosmetics in the shade Brunette.
Concealer: This product is an absolute MUST for me. It brightens my eyes and allows me to look more well rested and awake than I really am! LOL. I apply it underneath my foundation, when I need a little more correction of color due to dark circles. Most of the time, I also apply it on top of my foundation to brighten underneath my eyes and give me an instant awakened appearance. My concealer of choice is LA Girl Pro Conceal. I’ve talked about these concealers quite often. If you haven’t purchased yours yet, you can get them right here.
Contour Stick: After giving myself a little facelift with concealer, it’s time to now bring some depth to my face. I love using a foundation stick that is 2-3 shades darker than my skin tone to create depth to my face and to contour the areas that I want to slim down. This is done by applying my contour stick to my cheekbones, my forehead, jawline and nose. These areas create depth to my face and give me that overall SNATCHED appearance. Highlight: By this point, my face has been snatched for dear life, I like to add just a hint of GLOW to my cheek bones and nose. The key to highlighter is to use one that is not chunky and gives you a glow that looks like its coming from within, not sitting on top of your skin. As of late, my favorite highlighter is this one by Forever 21 in the shade Bronze.
Cheeks: This product is optional, but for $6 I think it should be a staple. Blush adds a beautiful hint of color to your cheeks to give you a more cheerful, noticeable appearance. My favorite blush palette, that I keep in my makeup bag to date, is the E.L.F. Blush palette in the shade dark. This palette is super inexpensive! You get 4 beautifully pigmented blushers for an outstanding price. You can get your E.L.F. Palette by clicking here.
Beauty Blender: I don’t know where I would be without my Beauty Blender. This tool allows me to apply my foundation quickly, and evenly. I don’t waste product because this sponge presses the product into my skin. It doesn’t leave any streaks or lines behind. If you haven’t purchased a Beauty Blender yet, you are slipping! What’s on my lips?
On most days, I always get asked, “What lip color are you wearing?” Lip color is one of those things I tend to be most loyal to. I love my reds, and my nudes. As of late, my number one lip color is from Colour Pop Cosmetics in the shade Reign. Every time I wear this color, I get lots of compliments on it. Check it out in the photo below.
That pretty much sums up my Makeup bag. These items are super easy to carry with me for a quick 15 minute face that I can apply right in the car! I hope this helps. Leave a comment below and let me know what you carry in your makeup bag.
